After having had some intense days before, all of us enjoyed sleeping in on Saturday morning. Around noon we departed from our house to go to Pittsburgh for the last time during our stay, to watch the Three Rivers Regatta. Unable to find a close parking garage, high enough for our vans, it took us quite a while to get there. Besides food trucks and the cooling fountain in Point State Park on this super-hot day, we had a great view, watching speed boat races and jetskies performing stunts. Afterwards we left downtown, to drive to the Southside of Pittsburgh, to stroll down famous Carson Street, which features the most bars of town. As we arrived there, the Cheesecake Factory was our choice to have dinner at, since it is not established in Germany yet. Some of us stayed in Southside to have a great night by drinking German beer in the Hofbräuhaus and having a good time. The others preferred to be taken back home, as an eventful Sunday was ahead.
Although some of us stayed up late the night before, having a couple of drinks in Pittsburgh, our Sunday started very early in the morning. Our first stop was Aldi, to get some snacks for the day. Straightly from there we started a 90 minutes-drive to Fallingwater, to visit the world famous house, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Being divided into two groups, we were guided through the interior. The house itself is built above a waterfall, integrating the nature around it, which amazed all of us. Following a quick lunch, we drove just a couple of miles further to go swimming in the Youghiogheny River. Despite the strong current in the stream, we enjoyed the cooling at this ultra-hot day. Our last destination on the trip, was dinner in a typical Pittsburghese diner in Washington. As an eventful day ended and an intense last week was ahead, all of us went to bed early.
